Choosing the right tube fitting
Start with the connection or support required, then match the fitting to the actual tube dimensions. A catalogue reference such as 101, 125 or 131 identifies a fitting style, while the A27, B34, C42, D48 and E60 labels identify a size range. Similar-looking products are not automatically interchangeable, so check the full product title, tube outside diameter and supplied fitting dimensions before ordering.
If you are replacing an existing component, compare more than the reference number. Check the socket arrangement, branch direction, angle, number of connections and whether the fitting is fixed, adjustable, internal or external. Products from different suppliers may use similar names or codes while differing in shape or dimensions.
Tube fitting types in this range
- Tees and crosses: for T-shaped, through and multi-direction tube connections, including short tees, long tees, add-on tees and crossover styles.
- Elbows and corners: for fixed or adjustable changes in direction, including 90-degree, three-way and sloping configurations.
- Base flanges and brackets: for locating tube at a surface or supporting a rail, subject to the requirements of the complete structure.
- Joiners and sleeves: for joining compatible tube sections in line. Check whether the product fits internally or externally.
- Swivel fittings: for layouts requiring an angled connection. Confirm the matching male and female components where relevant.
- Hinges, panel clips and end caps: accessories for gates, mesh panels and finishing compatible tube ends.
Tube size and compatibility
For fittings that locate around the outside of a tube, confirm the tube’s actual outside diameter. For internal joiners and plastic end caps, the tube’s internal diameter and wall thickness may also affect compatibility. Do not select a fitting only because the nominal size or photograph appears similar.
Reducing fittings connect specified size ranges and must be checked at both ends. Where fit is critical, compare the product information with measured tube dimensions. If you need help identifying a part, send KIMetals the tube measurements, clear photographs and any visible reference markings.
Selection and safety information
Tube fittings are supplied as individual components rather than as a complete, approved structural system. For handrails, guarding, barriers or other safety-critical structures, suitability must be assessed for the complete design, including the tube, every fitting, fixings, supporting surfaces, environment and intended loads.
No load rating, certification or compatibility with another manufacturer’s system should be assumed unless it is specifically confirmed for the supplied product. Project-specific design decisions should be made by a suitably competent person.
Finish and supply information
Most metal fittings in this category have a galvanised finish for general protection of the underlying metal. Plastic end caps and other plastic accessories are separate products and are not galvanised. Surface texture, colour, markings and minor cosmetic details may vary.
Products may be sourced from more than one supplier, so a particular manufacturer, brand or appearance is not guaranteed. If a named brand, certification or specific finish is essential, contact KIMetals before placing the order.
Ordering tube fittings
Select a product to view its current price, available size range and delivery information. Fittings are generally listed as individual components, so confirm the quantity and any required mating parts or fixings before ordering. Tube cutting services apply to eligible tube products rather than to the fittings themselves.
For larger quantities or help identifying a component, email [email protected] with the product reference, tube dimensions and project requirements. Please also check the applicable lead time and delivery terms shown on the website.
