Our 25.4mm (1″) x 25.4mm (1″) x 1.5mm Mild Steel ERW Square Box Section is an electric resistance welded square steel hollow section supplied cut to your required length. It is suitable for fabrication where consistent external dimensions, practical wall thickness and straightforward processing are important.

What Does ERW Mean?

ERW means Electric Resistance Welded. Steel strip is formed into a hollow profile and its longitudinal seam is welded using electrical resistance. ERW describes the manufacturing method, not one single material grade.

Grade: supplier dependent. ERW identifies the manufacturing process rather than a guaranteed material grade. If your project requires a specific grade, contact K I Metals before ordering and obtain written confirmation.

Manufacturing Standard

Products may be supplied to EN 10305-5, IS 4923, or another applicable supplier standard. The applicable standard must be confirmed where project-critical.

Surface Condition

ERW Mild Steel Box Section is supplied with a normal mill surface. Mill scale, light oxidation, handling marks, a visible weld seam and minor cosmetic variation can occur as normal manufacturing characteristics.

Corrosion Protection

Untreated mild steel can rust when exposed to moisture. For outdoor, decorative or long-term use, consider a suitable primer, paint system, powder coating or another available protective finish.
